I arrived at Glamorgan in September 2008, not knowing what to expect or how things would be living away from home for the first time. What I found when I arrived were friendly, warm and helpful people, such as Emma and Liz from the International Student Support team and all the International Welcome Week helpers. Emma and Liz are terrific; I would like to thank them for everything that they do and for all their help and organisation. International Welcome Week was the best start to the year, as this helped all who attended make many new friends and get to see and experience Wales. It was great to help you settle in; I actually felt more like I was on holiday for the first 2weeks.

I have found that it’s not that different, nor has it been such a major change moving here; everyone is friendly and helpful and always ready to have a good time. Being an international student at Glamorgan has been one of the best experiences of my life; I have met people from all walks of life and now have friends from all over the world. Living on campus was also something new for me and I would definitely do it again. I enjoy every minute of being here, there’s always something to do on campus and off. Student life at Glamorgan is great. Wales is also a great place to visit, there are a lot of places to see, and travel to other countries is relatively easy from here.

The University has got great facilities available to students, and as far as academics are concerned, my lecturers are superb. My LLM International Commercial Law classes are really small, and this is great, as it allows us more interaction with lecturers and much more scope for class discussions. Coming from South Africa, I did not find it difficult to grasp concepts in the learning material, as the majority is very similar, if not the same.

I would recommend anyone who is thinking of studying abroad to come to Glamorgan, as you are sure to have a good time and meet terrific people, and get an internationally recognised qualification at the same time!
