Pauline joined the final year of the BA (Hons) Marketing programme after successfully completing a BTS programme in France. She graduated in July 2015 and has shared her experiences of her time at USW.
“Hello! I am Pauline, a French student from Quimper in Brittany and I was in Cardiff from September 2014 until June 2015. I have studied at the University of South Wales in Treforest for one year and I am now graduated with a Bachelor degree in Marketing.
I lived in a flat share in Cathays with four other international students that I did not know before coming to Cardiff. We all get on well together so I had an amazing year with them and it has helped me a lot to improve my English. Cathays is a really nice area in Cardiff where most of the students live, it is close to the town (about 20min walking), and 20min from Treforest by train so it is easy to go to the university every day.
I did a two-year post A-level course at the high school Le Likès in Quimper (BTS Commerce International = International Trade Relations), which allowed me to apply to the University of South Wales to do a Bachelor Degree in Marketing. I have enjoyed the marketing course at USW a lot and it was a really good experience for me to follow all the tutorials and lectures in English! The lecturers were really helpful and patient every time we needed advice. A thing I really appreciated was that the library in the university is open all the time and there is a lot of very interesting books, plus it is a nice place to study and complete your assignments quietly.
I will keep a lot of very good memories from this year abroad and I recommend to all the French students to do the same. Do not hesitate leaving the country because of the language, as the best way to improve your English is to practice it abroad by studying and living in an English speaking Country.”
