Why did you choose this course?

‘Going Green’ has always been my dreams since I was young. I was always interested to find out the new technologies in the renewable energy field. I found this course to be very interesting as it is not just focusing on renewable energy topics, it also considers on the basic thermal engineering disciplines and environmental aspects.

Why the University of South Wales?

I chose to study at the University of South Wales because it is one of the universities in the UK which offered the best course in the energy field. Through my reading, I also discovered that the local people in Wales are very friendly and helpful, more so than any other places in the UK. There are also many beautiful places around the University of South Wales that I have found to make my stay here more enjoyable.

What’s been the most exciting part of the course so far?

The most exciting part of the course is the valuable experiences during my dissertation project. In this project, I have cooperated with Glyncoch Regeneration Ltd company in helping them to design a micro power system on wind and solar energy for their Glyncoch Social Club building. This priceless experience helped to build my self-esteem, confidence levels and also to enhance my own professional development.

Leisure activities

I enjoyed meeting people of different countries and backgrounds as the university accommodates students from all over the world. The Student Union at the University has organizsd many interesting activities throughout the year, which I have been taking part such as Global Festival Week. I also enjoyed visiting castles as Wales has the most number of castles in the UK.

Tell us about the lecturers

My lecturers are very knowledgeable and encouraging. They are very helpful during my studies here. Most of the lecturers in my course have their own field of expertise in industrial combustion, environmental and renewable energy systems.

What do you hope to do after you graduate?

I am very excited about teaching. When I go back to Malaysia, I hope to become a lecturer or researcher in the renewable energy system engineering field.

Any advice to those thinking about studying this course at the University of South Wales?

This course is definitely the best course for those who are seeking to study and enhance their basic engineering, and at the same time to explore the renewable energy field. The standard of teaching for this course is also excellent.
