Why did you choose this course?
My passion is marketing. I wanted to gain more knowledge and academic credentials with a focus on business and marketing in order to perfect my skills and increase my employability prospects within the marketing industry both in Europe and in Canada.

How did you hear about USW?
I was first introduced to the University of South Wales through the Ontario Colleges Marketing Competition (OCMC) which is a Canadian provincial competition where top students compete in a high pressure environment through various events in front of industry professionals. The University of South Wales is very active in the international community and by sponsoring an event that was a highlight of my college career, it provided me with an increased awareness and favorable opinion for continuing my postsecondary education abroad.

Why did you choose USW?
The University of South Wales is a first-class institution with award winning student support. They recognized my previous academic achievements and provided me with excellent value in comparison to other institutions.The University of South Wales has always gone above and beyond to ensure that I gained a first-class education from the moment I was a prospective student.

What do you think about your campus location?
Treforest is nestled in the Valleys among greenery and heritage. The campus is very accessible by foot in Pontypridd, or if you stay in Cardiff, the train system runs frequently and drops you off minutes away from the Treforest campus.

What do you think about the teaching staff on your course?
The teaching staff has made me feel welcome from the very first day. I have forged strong relationships with my lecturers and their support and guidance has helped transform the initial university experience from daunting to encouraging.

What do you think about the facilities available to you during your course?
The University of South Wales’ investment in infrastructure is very apparent regardless of where you study. I attend the Treforest campus which has a brand new lecture theatre and library providing access to the latest technology and an amazing environment to learn, study and complete module work. There is a great ambience at the University of South Wales and the facilities have enhanced my ability to learn throughout my degree.

Are you happy with the support available to you e.g. Immigration and International Student Advice, The Disability and Dyslexia Service, Advice shops
I was very pleased with the level of support I was provided by Immigration and International Student Advice as they worked hard to sort out any issues I had and were a wealth of knowledge whenever a question arose.

Where do you live and do you like your Accommodation?
I have private accommodation in Cardiff which has provided me with great access to culture, restaurants and nightlife however, I enjoy the short commute into the Treforest campus as the train ride provides amazing scenery and the Valleys are a refreshing change from city living.

Have you joined any clubs or societies? If so, which ones and why do you enjoy being part of these clubs/societies?
I have assisted professors with the development of high quality research for the University of South Wales and I have recently become a student mentor to new students. The opportunity to interact with lecturers and students has been very rewarding as it lends merit to the level of learning that can be achieved outside of the classroom. I am looking forward to getting more involved next year as there are so many amazing extracurricular aspects to the University of South Wales.

What has been your best experience at USW so far?
It’s a combination of the staff, students and Wales itself. The staff is welcoming and approachable and truly wants to see you succeed. The student body is made up of amazing individuals from all over the world, each with their own experiences they’re willing to share. Wales is a beautiful place drenched in history and provides a wonderful backdrop to stimulate inspiration.

How do you think your experience studying at USW will help you after you have graduated from university?
My investment in the University of South Wales has rewarded me with the confidence and skills that employers are looking to acquire. The program and modules are well balanced between developing your critical and analytical thinking while providing you with a variety of practical applications to increase your understanding of business and marketing in the real world.

What advice would you give to any students who are thinking of studying at USW?
You should seriously consider the University of South Wales as an option for future study as it will provide you with an unprecedented experience both personally and academically. My decision to study in Wales has afforded me the opportunity to gain a first class UK education while meeting amazing people from all over the world. I have had the ability to travel across Europe, made long lasting personal and professional relationships and gained crucial skills and knowledge which have significantly increased my potential for future success.
