Graduate Gudrun Bartl looks back on her MSc in Public Relations at the University.
“Deciding where to do my Masters degree in Public Relations was probably one of the most difficult decisions of my life. I wanted to go to a university in the UK that is trusted and where previous students had good experiences. All these things I found at the University of South Wales. I had the chance to develop my professional and personal skills and found a lot of new friends from all over the world.
The University is one of the biggest in the UK, however, the MSc Public Relations course offered a nice contrast to the size of the University since I got to know every single one of the people who studied with me, and the course felt kind of a home base for me. Meeting students from all over the world offered me a great understanding of what is going on in other economies around the world.
USW lecturers were very interested in their students and always helpful. The interaction between lecturers and students was very good and supportive. During the course I learned a lot about the theoretical background of PR and broader understanding of business. Throughout practical tasks and group projects, I had the chance to develop a feeling for corporate communication and reputation.
Besides the course the campus in Treforest offers great facilities for sports and restaurants. In addition, the closeness to Cardiff provides students with great shopping and an incredible night life.
After finishing my Masters degree, I went back to Austria where I immediately found a job in the PR sector. I am currently working as PR assistant and editor for Young Mountain Media.”
