Christopher Agyapong Siaw, from Ghana studied MSc Marketing and won the prestigious Professor Malcolm McDonald Student Essay Prize.
This is a national competition, but its sponsorship by Professor McDonald means that it has worldwide reach. Professor McDonald presented the prize to Christopher at an Academy of Marketing conference dinner in Liverpool.
Christopher’s success is particularly impressive given that English is not his first language. Dr Heather Skinner, one of Christopher’s tutors, commented: “This is indeed an excellent achievement for Christopher, as the competition was open to all undergraduates and postgraduates studying marketing in a Higher Education Institution Business School.”
Christopher’s winning entry was for an essay entitled: “Real value is defined by the customer, not the supplier.” He has said that he built on the understanding developed during his course to shape his essay.
“We discussed these issues during my classes, so I decided to enter when I saw the competition and the essay title promoted on the University’s student portal. I am extremely happy to have won this prize.”
