How did you hear about USW?
I found it on the list of universities that offered courses for the SwB programme. USW quickly became my first choice, after getting a look at previous student work and reading about the course.

What was the highlight of your time at USW?
It’s kind of hard to pick a highlight! When I first got here, the international students went on a trip to Big Pit, and I loved that; it was great fun. The computer Animation course was amazing, and at the end of the year I got nominated for, and won, the Best 1st Year award, so that felt really great.

What did you think of life in Wales generally?
I loved Wales! I wish I’d been able to travel more, but Cardiff itself was awesome. It’s a great city to live in, with plenty to do, and really comfortable.

What did you think of the course/lecturers/facilities?
The course as a whole was excellent. I really loved the lectures and just the pace of the course in general. I felt challenged and motivated to keep improving, and I think it paid off. I found the assignments pretty fun, and the lecturers were all extremely supportive and helpful. The ATRiuM is a really cool building and it was a very nice place to study in. It also had all the equipment I might need for my studies, like cameras, computers and tablets.

Where did you live? Did you like living there?
I lived in Liberty Bridge, across the street from the ATRiuM. That itself made it a nice place to live, since it was only a couple minutes walk to where I was studying, and only a few minutes more to get to the City Centre. It was very nice, I had my own room and bathroom, and shared a kitchen with five flatmates.

How will your experience at USW benefit you when you leave USW?
I learned a lot here that I’m not too sure I would have learned in my University in Brazil. Though I could only spend a year here, I feel so much better prepared to someday get a job and work in the industry. Also, being in Wales meant I could go to several events I wouldn’t have access to back home. I met many great people and made friends, too, so I’d say that’s huge a benefit!

Would you recommend USW to other students?
I already have!

Any other comments you would like to add?
You have to come to Wales to try the Welsh cakes! They are awesome.
