Spreading some Christmas cheer with our Brazilian Science without Borders students!

December 15, 2014

On Wednesday 10th December 2014, 30 Brazilian Ciência sem Fronteiras – Reino Unido (CsF) students joined the International Office for a Christmas dinner in Stilts Food Court on the Treforest campus.

It was a great festive night where everyone exchanged gifts and ate a traditional Christmas dinner. The students also learnt some new traditions as this was the first time that some had seen christmas crackers!

The evening was also an opportunity to say farewell to some of our students who will be returning to Brazil later this month having joined us in January 2014 on the Brazilian government’s Ciência sem Fronteiras – Reino Unido (CsF) scholarship programme.

Brazilian students participating in this programme join us for a year studying a range of Science, Technology, Engineering and Creative Industries courses.

USW has been participating in the CsF programme since it began in September 2012 when 2 students enrolled. In September 2013, 15 students enrolled and a further 5 students enrolled in January 2014. The programme is going from strength to strength with September 2015 seeing the enrolment of our largest cohort of 25 Brazilian students.

We wish all our students returning to Brazil a safe journey and we are sure that their international experience at USW will benefit them greatly when they return to Brazil.
