Welcome to the University of South Wales! As one of the largest universities in the UK we are proud of our internationally diverse student body. We have been welcoming students from Hong Kong to the University for many years and have developed excellent support services for you, including:

  • Academic support services to help you achieve your highest potential whilst studying with us
  • Career guidance and support services to ensure you are in the best position to gain employment when you graduate from the University

Here at the University students from Hong Kong enjoy the community feel of each of our campuses and the opportunity to experience UK life whilst studying in a safe, secure and supportive environment. We have found that our students from Hong Kong really make the effort to integrate into life here at the University which benefits both them and the experience of all our students.

Fees and Scholarships

Scholarships

Students from Hong Kong are eligible to receive our International Academic Scholarships which are available across all levels of study.

  • International Academic Scholarships of £1,500 for undergraduate students
  • International Academic Scholarships of £2,000 for postgraduate students
  • International Academic Scholarships of £1,500 for MBA students

Entry Requirements

Undergraduate Entry Requirements

Proficiency in English is essential for Undergraduate study. Where a student has completed English Language as part of their Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) or Hong Kong Certificate of Education (HKCEE) studies, a minimum of 4 or Grade C is required.

The University of South Wales also considers a number of Secure English Language Tests (SELTs) supported by the UKVI for entry to the UK, including the following English language qualifications:

  • GCSE English at grade C
  • IELTS 6.0 (with minimum 5.5 in each band)
  • HKDSE Level 4 in English Language

Don’t worry if you do not meet these requirements as we offer a range of English Language Courses to prepare you for academic studies.

Academic Qualifications

Holders of the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education will be considered against the standard UCAS tariff for each individual course for direct admission to first degree programmes.

Holders of the International Baccalaureate Diploma or ‘A’ levels obtained in Hong Kong will be considered for direct admission to first degree programmes. Students who do not meet these entry requirement will be considered for a Foundation year.

Holders of three-year college Diplomas/Higher National Diplomas/Associate Degrees in a related subject will be considered for entry onto our one year Top Up courses. Please note a good IELTS score is required (6.0 minimum) or HKDSE 4 or HKCEE Grade C or above.

Postgraduate Entry Requirements

Holders of a good Honours Bachelor degree will be considered for postgraduate Masters degree courses.

Applicants with a Masters degree will be considered for entry to Ph.D. studies.
