Application process for EU students

Here are the answers to the most Frequently Asked Questions to help you with the application process.

Q1. How do I submit a full application?

Undergraduate applicants can submit an application via UCAS or apply to us directly. Postgraduate applicants are encouraged to submit a direct application.

All EU applicants for Undergraduate or Postgraduate courses should provide the following documents:

  • Personal Statement
  • English Language Certificates
  • Results from your school or university qualifications (certificates and transcripts)
  • Portfolio (Animation, Creative Arts and Design courses only)
  • Interview (for specific courses)
  • Academic references (recommendation)

Q2. What happens after I have submitted my application online?

Our Enquiries and Admissions team will do their best to process your application within 5 days of your submission. At peak times this may take longer but if you have any questions do not hesitate to contact the E&A team. If any additional documentation or information is required they will contact you or your educational consultant with further details. Once all necessary information has been received a decision will be made and communicated to you by email.

Providing that you have submitted a complete application and that you have met the entry criteria for your chosen course, you will be given a Conditional or Unconditional Offer. You will then need to respond to the offer to secure your place, and instructions of how to do so will be in your offer email.

If the University decides that you are not a suitable candidate based on one of the listed criteria above, your application will be unsuccessful. You will be sent an email confirming the decision giving you to opportunity to gain feedback.

Q3. I have received a Conditional Offer. What happens next?

If you have received a Conditional Offer, it means that your application has been accepted subject to the conditions detailed being met. The most common conditions are to do with applicants awaiting exam results. You can confirm your choice to study with us even if you are still waiting for your results! For more information, please refer to UCAS – replying to offers.

Once you have received your exam results you should contact the “Enquiries and Admissions Team”(link to Contact us page) as soon as possible providing a copy of the certificate(s). After submitting all the necessary information, and providing you meet the criteria, your offer will be changed to Unconditional.

If you miss the deadline or do not respond to our communications then your offer could be withdrawn.

Q4. I have received an unconditional offer from the University of South Wales. What do I do next?

If you are an Undergraduate student who applied via UCAS, you need to go to your UCAS profile and accept our offer.

If you placed the University as your insurance choice and you wish to change your mind and put the University of South Wales as your first choice then you have to contact UCAS who will advise you of the process.
If you have already confirmed South Wales as your first choice of university, then we will be looking forward to seeing you in September!

If you are an Undergraduate or Postgraduate student who applied directly to us, you can confirm your place via the University My Future online portal.

Once you have accepted your offer, you will then receive details by email about accommodation and finance, followed up by your enrolment details a few weeks before your start date.

Q5. I have got other questions regarding my EU application. Who can I ask?

If you need specific advice about your application at South Wales or have a specific question related to your EU diploma/degree, please feel free to contact the EU team at europe@southwales.ac.uk . Remember to check the Country pages:(link to be included) for specific information about your country.
